Arusha National Park is in the Arusha Region of north eastern Tanzania it is the Park of varied ecosystems and great views of Mt.Meru a prominent volcano with an elevation of 4566 m and the second highest peak in Tanzania after Mount Kilimanjaro. The Park was established in 1960 it covers the area of 552 sq km (212 sq miles) it lies a few(25 km) kilometers north east of Arusha town, 58 km from Moshi and 35 km from Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA).

The Park has a spectacular landscape that includes the slopes, summit, and ash cone of Mt. Meru, the Momela Lakes, Ngurdoto Crater, and the lush highland forests that blanket its lava slopes.

Arusha National Park has a rich variety of wildlife, animals to be seen in this area include giraffe, Cape buffalo, zebra, warthog, the black-and-white colobus monkey, the blue monkey, flamingo, elephant, bushbuck and many other African animals. Leopard populations are present, but rarely seen. Birdlife in the forest is prolific, with many forest species more easily seen here than elsewhere on the tourist route are Narina trogon and bar-tailed trogon are both possible highlights for visiting birders, whilst the range of starling species provide somewhat less gaudy interest.
